  • Kamba is doing fine, says Diana

When it was about time to leave for Tana, Max had this great idea : we will take the taxi-brousse one step after the central station and protect Kamba from the passengers curiosity. So nobody noticed us when we embarked later this day. The road trip lasted 13 hours and I must say I nearly broke my back on the very uncomfortable seats.
We arrived in Antananarivo at 4.30 am and Mavo (Rondro’s sister) and her husband were very kind to be there on time and took us directly to the hospital 9as we’ve been all told by Max who already booked the room and meals with Pr Clément). It was him who took care at placing them on the nearest room to his office on the first floor of the Neurosurgery department.
By Friday May 6th at 3 pm we were able to do the scanner thanks to Mrs Lisa who donated the amount of money for this first procedure. It was written “Confidential” in capital letters on the result envelop so we left it on Pr Clément bureau when he was away to a conference in Antsirabe this day.
Few days later, he came back and announced two operations for Kamba. First will be on Tuesday 10th and the second one a week after. Little Kamba was cry the entire night before the first operation because the hospital staff kept his mother from feeding him due to the anesthesia he had to take. At 11 am, the professor took him to the operatory bloc and people from every corner of the world who knew Kamba were keeping their breath, trembling and heartbroken while saying this little prayer between their tight lips “Dear God Please Protect our Kamba”. But God has always been good to us (even if sometimes he was looking elsewhere when we needed him…). The operation went well, thanks to the love of everyone around him, he vomited a little but we were told it was a good sign of the water coming out of his cranium. Right now he’s sleeping like an angel…
